Medical alert response systems (MERS), also called "medical alert systems" and "personal emergency response systems (PERS)," are systems comprised primarily of telecommunications transmitters and receivers, used to report emergencies (e.g., medical problems, falls, security emergencies, etc.) to pre-programmed recipients.
