A sounding rocket is an instrument carrying suborbital rocket designed to take measurements and perform scientific experiments during its flight. Sounding rockets are also called “rocketsondes," "research rockets," or "suborbital rockets.” These goods are classified in Class 9 because they function as “scientific apparatus,” which appears in the Nice Class 9 Heading. Sounding rockets appear in the Nice Alphabetical List in Class 9.
