1-01-2014 Services involving 'Updating and maintenance of data in computer databases' are classified in Class 35, pursuant to the Nice Classification, Tenth edition, version 2014, effective 1-1-14. On 1-23-2014, this Note was further clarified to make clear that this service involves updating and maintenance of only the 'data' within computer databases, and is comparable to 'computerized database management' classified in Class 35. The service of updating and maintenance of database systems, which refers collectively to the database model, database management system (a software system designed to allow the definition, creation, querying, update, and administration of databases) and database content, remains in Class 42.
