Key chains are comprised of split rings with decorative fobs or trinkets sold as a unit. Under Nice 11-2017, key chains and key rings are classified in Class 14 regardless of material composition. However, specification of the material composition of key chains and key rings may be required during examination of marks that refer to material composition. See TMEP Section 1203.02(f)(i) for further information. 11-2017 Key chains is acceptable wording; further specification is acceptable, but it is not required.

On 11-7-2013, the following note was added: Rosaries are a string of beads used in counting prayers especially of the Roman Catholic rosary. Use of rosary facilitates learning the prayers represented by the beads in the rosary. Therefore, they are classified in Class 16 based on the mention of "instructional and teaching material (except apparatus)" in the Class 16 Nice Classification Heading. On 01-01-2017, this 01-02-1997 entry was transferred from Class 16 to Class 14 in compliance with Nice 11-2017. Under Nice 11-2017, prayer and meditation beads are classified in Class 14 by analogy to the wording "jewellery" in the Class 14 Heading.

Shoe ornaments of precious metal is indefinite and overbroad, and this wording is no longer acceptable. "Shoe jewelry" appears in the ID Manual in Class 14.
