The investigations in this class are investigations being done for the safety of persons or entities. Hence, a pre-employment background investigation is in class 45 because such investigations are done to ensure the safety of current employees and the business of the employer. Similarly, investigations of insurance claims are in class 45 because they are done to ensure that the claimant is not committing a fraud on the insurance company. Investigations that are NOT in this class are those that have a different purpose than ensuring safety i.e. a business investigation, looking at the processes of business (class 35) or a financial investigation that determines the financial soundness of a company (class 36), or a scientific investigation (class 42).
